Ceramics is a great way to incorporate cross-curricular, hands-on learning. At its core, ceramics involves artistic expression, geology, chemistry, engineering and mathematics. But ceramics can go beyond and become relevant in all types of lessons and units a teacher may cover.
I have taught art and science at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Since working for the Sea to Sky School District, I have been regularly teaching ceramics and other art forms at Howe Sound Secondary School.
